 Supreme court adjourned the Contempt proceeding against Judge for filing reply

Contemnor Judge of Bombay Court  asked for one week’s  time to file reply. Matter adjourned by the Supreme Court.


 Earlier the three Judge Bench of the Supreme Court decided to initiate contempt proceedings against Bombay Court Judge Shri. A. P. Khanorkar. The petition is filed by Mr. Manubhai Patel, who is a retired senior of officer of Maharashtra Government. The order dated 13.01.2021 reads thus ;

“ UPON perusing papers the Court made the following

O R D E R

Issue notice in the Misc. Application as well as in the Contempt Petition, returnable in three weeks. Personal presence of the alleged contemnor is dispensed with for the time being ”


The contemnor Judge marked his appearance through advocate on record.

The matter was listed today i.e. on 01.03.2020 before the Bench of Justices R. F. Nariman & Bhushan Gavai.

The advocate for respondent requested for adjournment to file reply affidavit.

The court adjourned the case for one week.
